Commerce & Finance integration
Connect Shopify checkout to the way your Odoo operation actually fulfills orders.
Nexus can translate Shopify orders into the customer, product and sales-order structure used by your Odoo deployment. Inventory and fulfillment updates follow separately defined return rules, with custom fields and exception review handled inside the same recorded workflow.
The problem
Why Shopify + Odoo needs a governed process
The storefront and ERP may agree on a product name while disagreeing on variant codes, bundles, warehouse locations or included tax. Custom Odoo modules add another layer. An order that appears complete online can therefore arrive without the fields the warehouse or finance team requires.
Responsibility
How the systems divide responsibility
Commerce and checkout record
Shopify
Storefront products, online orders, customers and customer-facing purchase information.
Operating ERP
Odoo
ERP customers and products, sales orders, invoices and the configured inventory and fulfillment records.
Capabilities
What Nexus orchestrates
Pre-built action groups used in this pattern. Anything else runs through an API, protocol or database step, or Rules + Code, in the same workflow.

Architecture
One governed run across both systems
How work starts
Webhook, schedule or API poll
A Shopify order is released for fulfillment, a cancellation needs review, or Odoo availability or shipment information is ready to publish.
When a pre-built action does not cover it
Workflow patterns
What teams run across Shopify + Odoo
01
Store order to Odoo sales order
Validate customer identity and line mappings, populate the required standard and custom fields, then create the ERP order.
02
Variant and bundle validation
Resolve storefront variants and bundles to the configured Odoo products or component rules before order submission.
03
Location-level inventory publication
Read the agreed Odoo availability values and update only their mapped Shopify locations through the supported interfaces.
04
Fulfillment and return coordination
Return permitted shipment updates and route cancellations or returns according to the ERP processing stage.
Direction and ownership
Which way each change moves
Shopify sends orders and approved commerce changes into Odoo. Odoo returns the agreed stock and fulfillment data for the mapped store locations. Catalog, price and customer-field ownership are defined separately, rather than allowing every field to overwrite its counterpart.
Shopify Odoo
Order lines, mapped variants, customer details, discounts, shipping charges and approved order changes.
Odoo Shopify
Agreed inventory availability, fulfillment status and linked ERP document references.
Control
Approvals and exception handling
Human approval
Unmapped bundles, custom-field failures and changes after fulfillment release wait for the commerce or operations owner. Approval releases the reviewed correction; rejection preserves the source order and records the handling needed.
Exceptions
- Unknown product variants or required custom fields hold the affected order before creation.
- Conflicting stock or fulfillment values are routed to the agreed data owner for reconciliation.
- Existing order links are checked before creation, including destination reconciliation after an uncertain submission.
Security, audit and deployment
Every run leaves a reviewable record
- Shopify order version and payment or release state used.
- Variant, bundle, location and custom-field mappings applied.
- Validation results and any operations approval.
- Odoo document responses and updates returned to Shopify.
Credentials for Shopify and Odoo are held in the vault and used only by the steps that need them. Role-based permissions decide who can edit, approve and run the workflow. Nexus runs on premises, in private cloud or air-gapped, so the execution record stays inside your deployment boundary. Governance and audit

See this run against your Shopify and Odoo
Bring the process you run today. We map which system owns what, where approval belongs and the steps each side needs, against your own Shopify and Odoo, not a generic environment.
- The Shopify + Odoo workflow built and run end to end.
- Where a person is asked to approve, and what they see.
- The execution record an auditor would read afterwards.
- What it takes to run this inside your own deployment boundary.

FAQ
Shopify + Odoo questions
- Can this work with customized Odoo modules?
- The workflow can accommodate custom logic where the installed modules expose the required operations. Their fields and permissions are checked during design.
- Are Odoo inventory and fulfillment operations all pre-built?
- The stated coverage lists products, customers, sales orders, invoices and employees. Additional inventory or shipment operations can use the available Odoo interface or code where required.
- Will cancellations always delete the Odoo order?
- No. The permitted action depends on whether the order has been confirmed, fulfilled or invoiced. Later changes follow the approved operational and finance process.
