Payment and Subscription Events into CRM and ERP
A payment or subscription change should update the customer record and the finance record consistently. When those updates are separate, the two drift. One governed run keeps them aligned.

Why billing events create drift
A subscription is upgraded, cancelled or fails to renew. The payment platform knows immediately. Sales finds out when a customer complains. Finance finds out at month end. In between, the CRM and ERP disagree about the customer's status.
Point integrations often handle one side. The other side gets a spreadsheet. Reconciliation becomes a recurring project rather than a property of the process.
This guide describes a Nexus pattern that treats the billing event as the start of one governed run updating both downstream systems. Stripe can start the run as a trigger source, while PayPal provides pre-built actions across Transactions, Payouts and Subscriptions. Additional operations can use direct APIs.
Start from the billing event
Stripe is a listed Nexus trigger source, so a Stripe event can start a run directly with the event as input. PayPal is not a listed trigger source, but PayPal Subscriptions appears in the actions library, so a scheduled run can check subscription state and start follow-up work for changes.
The webhook receiver and HTTP poller are also available for other billing sources.
Whichever source starts the run, the event is recorded before anything else happens.
- 01Stripe trigger source
- 02Scheduled check using PayPal Subscriptions
- 03Webhook receiver or HTTP poller for other sources
- 04Event recorded at the start of every run
Validate against policy
Rules + Code checks the event: is the customer known, is the change consistent with the contract, does it cross a threshold that finance wants to review? Events that would change revenue records outside policy pause for a finance reviewer.
The reviewer sees the event, the current customer and finance state and the reason for the pause, and decides. The decision is recorded.
Reflect the change in Salesforce
Use a Salesforce pre-built action for the required update where one exists. Additional updates use the Salesforce API through the HTTP Request node.
The update gives account teams current status in the tool they use, and the response is captured.
Reflect the change in SAP
SAP is part of the actions library and the SAP RFC node can call approved BAPI and RFC functions. The finance-side update runs after validation and, where required, approval.
If one side succeeds and the other fails, the record shows exactly which, and the failure is routed for follow-up rather than hidden.
Nexus orchestrates the workflow around payment events. It does not process payments.
Reconcile on a schedule
A scheduled run compares billing, CRM and ERP state and flags differences for review. Over time, those differences should become rare because the event-driven path handles most changes.
Reconciliation rules live in the workflow, so month-end checks follow the same logic as daily handling.
What the record shows
For any billing event, the record shows the source event, validation, any finance decision, the Salesforce and SAP calls and responses and the reconciliation outcome.
Nexus runs on-premises, in private or sovereign cloud, or air-gapped. Nexus provides 1,480+ pre-built actions across 43 product families. Additional operations can use APIs, protocols, databases or Rules + Code in the same governed run.
Customer and finance records move together, with evidence of how.
Frequently asked questions
Can Stripe start the workflow?
Yes. Stripe is a listed trigger source.
How is PayPal used?
PayPal Subscriptions appears in the actions library. PayPal is not a listed trigger source, so a schedule, webhook receiver or HTTP poller starts the run.
Does Nexus process payments?
No. It orchestrates the workflow around payment and subscription events in your systems.
Which Salesforce and SAP operations are used?
Use pre-built actions for the required operations where they exist. Additional Salesforce operations use HTTP Request, and approved SAP functions use the SAP RFC node.
