AI for supply chain and commerce

Spend AI on stock interpretation and planning, not on moving every order.

Order records and inventory updates already have defined destinations. The work that benefits from a model sits around them: interpreting a stock difference, forecasting demand, classifying a delivery exception or finding the same item across differently described listings. Nexus combines those capabilities with the deterministic handoffs across Shopify, Amazon Seller, Odoo, NetSuite and planning datasets, keeping the AI budget tied to a specific operational task.

Where the model earns its place

What AI does here

Each of these is a point where the input varies enough that a rule cannot settle it, and where the output is something a person can check.

  1. Prioritizes stock review

A model evaluates the physical-count and system context, ranks discrepancies and proposes an adjustment, reconciliation or recount. The category or inventory owner receives the relevant count and movement evidence together.

  2. Builds demand proposals

A forecasting model uses the approved history and drivers to propose demand for the planning horizon. The planner can accept or override the proposal with a recorded reason and retain both versions.

  3. Interprets delivery exceptions

A model reads the available fulfillment information and proposes a category with the supporting context. Routing rules then carry the case to the owner responsible for that type of resolution.

  4. Matches products across channels

A model compares listing descriptions and attributes to propose links to ERP items. Exact unit, pack-size and variant checks complement the semantic match before the catalog owner approves the mapping.

Human control

Where a person decides

The named inventory or category owner approves stock adjustments and operational product mappings, and planners approve the released forecast with any override reason. Fulfillment owners authorize reshipments or cancellations; finance owners authorize refunds and financial adjustments. The workflow applies those decisions through separate system actions and preserves the proposal, approval and resulting references.

Cost

Deterministic or AI

Moving an order, calculating a quantity or applying an established SKU mapping should not add another model charge. Those steps run as deterministic operations; model capacity goes to discrepancy interpretation, predictive planning and product matching where descriptions differ. Choosing the path per step keeps AI spending aligned with the work it improves as transaction volume grows. The deterministic commerce workflows below are the operational foundation, not a reason to add inference to every transaction.

See this run against your own supply chain and commerce systems

Bring one process you would want to put a model in front of. We will map which steps stay deterministic, where the model is worth the call, who approves what, and what the run record has to show afterwards.

  • Runs on your infrastructure, including air-gapped.
  • Your model provider, or one you host yourself.
  • No system of record is replaced.

FAQ

AI for supply chain and commerce: common questions

Which parts of commerce operations benefit from model spending?
Tasks such as interpreting a stock discrepancy, preparing a demand forecast or comparing varied product descriptions. Established order transfers and mappings can remain deterministic.
Does a forecast immediately create a purchase or production commitment?
The named planner approves the planning version, and any purchase, production or financial commitment follows the separate approval policy for that action.
Can different model types serve different tasks?
Yes. The design can use a selected predictive model for demand and a language or matching model for interpretation, with both steps connected to the same workflow and review process.
Which supply-chain processes do these pages cover?
The use cases focus on connected commerce, inventory, fulfillment, catalog identity and planning. Each workflow defines the systems, ownership and interfaces required for its scope.
