Commerce & Finance integration
Reconcile Stripe payments with SAP before posting the accounting result.
Nexus can connect Stripe charges, invoices, refunds and settlement context to the corresponding SAP records. Finance defines the mapping and posting rules; the workflow validates amounts and references, routes differences for review and records the resulting accounting handoff.
The problem
Why Stripe + SAP needs a governed process
A successful charge, a customer invoice and a bank payout are different events. Fees, refunds, disputes and settlement timing can make their totals differ. Treating each Stripe notification as revenue or a new invoice creates accounting errors instead of resolving the payment-to-ERP gap.
Responsibility
How the systems divide responsibility
Payment and subscription operations
Stripe
Payment transactions, payment-provider invoices where used, subscriptions and settlement activity.
Accounting authority
SAP
ERP receivables, accounting documents, clearing rules and revenue-recognition policy.
Capabilities
What Nexus orchestrates
Pre-built action groups used in this pattern. Anything else runs through an API, protocol or database step, or Rules + Code, in the same workflow.

Architecture
One governed run across both systems
How work starts
Stripe, webhook or schedule
A payment settles, an invoice reaches the agreed state, a refund or dispute needs accounting treatment, or a settlement batch is ready to reconcile.
When a pre-built action does not cover it
Workflow patterns
What teams run across Stripe + SAP
01
Payment-to-receivable matching
Match the Stripe customer and source reference to the SAP receivable before preparing the clearing action.
02
Settlement reconciliation
Compare gross receipts, fees, adjustments and the payout amount, keeping settlement timing separate from invoice timing.
03
Refund and dispute handling
Link the event to its original transaction and route the required ERP adjustment under finance-approved rules.
04
Subscription accounting handoff
Transfer the approved billing-period and line context into the configured SAP accounting process without treating the cash receipt as a revenue-recognition decision.
Direction and ownership
Which way each change moves
Selected Stripe financial events supply source evidence for SAP reconciliation and the configured posting process. SAP references and reconciliation outcomes return to the linked tracking context. The design specifies which system issues the commercial invoice and avoids generating a second one accidentally.
Stripe SAP
Matched payment, refund, fee and settlement details for approved accounting treatment.
SAP Stripe
Permitted ERP references or reconciliation markers where a supported writable field is appropriate.
Control
Approvals and exception handling
Human approval
Unmatched payments, settlement differences and non-standard adjustments wait for the finance owner. Approval releases the specified accounting action; rejection leaves the transaction unresolved with its source evidence available for correction.
Exceptions
- Missing invoice or customer references hold the item in reconciliation rather than creating a speculative match.
- Currency, fee or settlement differences are classified before any corrective posting.
- Provider event identifiers and SAP document references are checked to avoid repeating an accepted accounting action.
Security, audit and deployment
Every run leaves a reviewable record
- Stripe event, transaction and settlement references selected for processing.
- Matching results, amount breakdown and accounting rule version.
- Finance reviewer, decision and timestamp where required.
- SAP posting or clearing request, response and document reference.
Credentials for Stripe and SAP are held in the vault and used only by the steps that need them. Role-based permissions decide who can edit, approve and run the workflow. Nexus runs on premises, in private cloud or air-gapped, so the execution record stays inside your deployment boundary. Governance and audit

See this run against your Stripe and SAP
Bring the process you run today. We map which system owns what, where approval belongs and the steps each side needs, against your own Stripe and SAP, not a generic environment.
- The Stripe + SAP workflow built and run end to end.
- Where a person is asked to approve, and what they see.
- The execution record an auditor would read afterwards.
- What it takes to run this inside your own deployment boundary.

FAQ
Stripe + SAP questions
- Does a successful Stripe charge mean revenue should be recognized?
- No. Recognition follows the finance policy and ERP configuration, not the payment event alone.
- Must SAP and Stripe both issue an invoice?
- No. Invoice authority is decided explicitly so the same commercial transaction is not invoiced twice.
- Can this run entirely air-gapped while using Stripe?
- No. Nexus can be self-hosted, but a live Stripe handoff needs approved connectivity to Stripe. An isolated environment would require a separately designed data-transfer process.
