Commerce & Finance integration
Connect NetSuite and Xero while keeping each entity's accounting authority clear.
Nexus can move the approved invoice, payment or reporting data required between a NetSuite group and a Xero-based subsidiary. Entity mappings, accounts, currencies and period rules are checked before any destination action, with reconciliation kept separate from automatic ledger changes.
The problem
Why NetSuite + Xero needs a governed process
Two accounting systems do not need every transaction copied both ways. They need a clear answer to which entity owns a document, what the parent needs for reporting and which intercompany entry belongs in the other ledger. Uncontrolled replication can duplicate revenue or alter a closed period.
Responsibility
How the systems divide responsibility
Group or assigned-entity accounting record
NetSuite
NetSuite entity books, ERP invoices and the group accounting processes assigned to it.
Subsidiary or assigned-entity accounting record
Xero
Xero organization books, local invoices, payments and bank-transaction records.
Capabilities
What Nexus orchestrates
Pre-built action groups used in this pattern. Anything else runs through an API, protocol or database step, or Rules + Code, in the same workflow.

Architecture
One governed run across both systems
How work starts
Webhook, schedule or API poll
An intercompany document is approved, a local period is ready for group reporting, or a reconciliation difference is released for review.
When a pre-built action does not cover it
Workflow patterns
What teams run across NetSuite + Xero
01
Intercompany document handoff
Translate the approved transaction into the counterpart entity's permitted document structure using explicit counterparty and account mappings.
02
Subsidiary reporting transfer
Collect the selected Xero financial data for the agreed period and deliver it to the configured NetSuite group process.
03
Payment and balance reconciliation
Compare linked invoice and payment references, separating timing differences from items that need accounting correction.
04
Correction approval
Assemble a proposed adjustment with both ledger references and route it to the responsible entity finance owners before submission.
Direction and ownership
Which way each change moves
Each legal entity retains its own ledger. Xero can supply approved local reporting or transaction data to the group process; NetSuite can send defined intercompany or billing instructions to the relevant Xero organization. Neither direction implies duplicating every source invoice as another sale.
NetSuite Xero
Approved entity-specific billing or intercompany instructions with mapped accounts and source references.
Xero NetSuite
Agreed invoice, payment or reporting data required for group processing and reconciliation.
Control
Approvals and exception handling
Human approval
New account mappings, intercompany adjustments and changes affecting closed periods wait for the designated entity or group finance owner. Only the approved destination action proceeds; rejection leaves both legal records unchanged and the difference visible.
Exceptions
- Missing entity, tax or chart-of-accounts mappings hold the transfer for finance correction.
- Closed-period or currency-rule failures stop the affected action with the destination response retained.
- Source document and counterpart references are reconciled before creation to limit duplicate recognition.
Security, audit and deployment
Every run leaves a reviewable record
- Originating entity, document or reporting period.
- Account, counterparty, currency and tax mappings used.
- Validation results and entity-level approval decisions.
- Destination requests, responses and cross-ledger reconciliation results.
Credentials for NetSuite and Xero are held in the vault and used only by the steps that need them. Role-based permissions decide who can edit, approve and run the workflow. Nexus runs on premises, in private cloud or air-gapped, so the execution record stays inside your deployment boundary. Governance and audit

See this run against your NetSuite and Xero
Bring the process you run today. We map which system owns what, where approval belongs and the steps each side needs, against your own NetSuite and Xero, not a generic environment.
- The NetSuite + Xero workflow built and run end to end.
- Where a person is asked to approve, and what they see.
- The execution record an auditor would read afterwards.
- What it takes to run this inside your own deployment boundary.

FAQ
NetSuite + Xero questions
- Does this merge NetSuite and Xero into one set of books?
- No. Each entity retains its accounting authority. The workflow moves only the records required by the agreed group process.
- Is this a complete statutory consolidation engine?
- No. Consolidation policy, eliminations and the authoritative consolidation system are defined separately; Nexus coordinates the specified transfers and checks.
- Can journal and adjustment operations be included?
- Where the relevant product APIs, permissions and finance policy allow them. The listed connector coverage alone does not establish every required journal operation.
