A retail customer
Meeting national e-invoicing requirements for a retail customer
The full e-invoicing round trip in one governed flow, with a finance dashboard where rejected or malformed invoices become work items instead of silent failures.
Executive summary
The situation
E-invoicing involves more than producing a structured invoice. Finance also needs to validate it, exchange it with the authority and understand any response or rejection.
What was built
Nexus connects generation, required-format validation, upload, response download and exception handling. The finance dashboard shows invoices, XML previews and authority messages, with controlled sandbox and authority-test integration.
Why it matters
Gives finance visibility into the exchange rather than leaving rejected documents as hidden failures. The business flow can be exercised in controlled environments without being redesigned for each integration setting.

The challenge
A mandatory exchange with no room for silent errors.
E-invoicing creates a round trip. An invoice has to be generated in the required format, validated, submitted and followed through the authority response. Creating a file successfully does not establish that it was accepted.
Malformed documents and rejections needed to become actionable work for finance. The business process also needed a controlled way to exercise the exchange in sandbox and authority-test integration settings without redesigning the flow.
What we built
An end-to-end e-invoicing flow.
Nexus follows the invoice through generation, validation, authority upload and the download of incoming responses. Submission is not treated as the final action: a created file is not necessarily an accepted invoice. When a document is rejected or malformed, exception handling turns the issue into a work item for finance.
A purpose-built dashboard puts creation, XML preview, authority messages and exceptions together. Finance can inspect what was produced and what came back without working through separate technical interfaces. The architecture supports controlled sandbox testing and authority-test integration without rebuilding the business flow.
How the workflow runs
Step by step.
01
Generate
Invoices are produced in the required structured format. Documents are checked against format requirements before submission.
02
Upload
Valid invoices are submitted to the tax authority. Incoming authority messages are downloaded and matched to invoices.
03
Handle exceptions
Rejections and malformed documents become work items for finance.
What the business team sees
Invoices, XML and authority messages in one place.
The dashboard keeps the invoice and its response in the same conversation. Finance can read an authority message alongside the XML preview and the exception needing attention. A rejection is presented as work to resolve, making the interface useful to the people responsible for invoices rather than only to those managing the exchange.

How Nexus works underneath
Nexus follows the document through the round trip.
Generation and format validation are deterministic steps. Upload, response download and exception routing connect the document to the message that comes back. Environment separation supports sandbox and authority-test integration, while the business task stays the same: create the required invoice, exchange it and act on the response.

Human control and audit
Failures are visible and owned.
Every invoice has a traceable path from creation to authority response. Exceptions are assigned work, not hidden errors, so finance can show what was sent, what came back and how each problem was resolved.
What this changes
Responses become finance work. Rejected and malformed documents appear as exceptions with the reason available.
The round trip is visible. Gives finance a connected view of creation, XML and authority messages.
Testing follows the same flow. Controlled environments let the team examine the exchange without rebuilding its process.
