Customer story · Gaming & Gambling
A betting & gaming operator
Payment reconciliation for a betting & gaming operator
High-volume matching between internal transactions and payment-provider records, with unmatched items handled as managed exceptions instead of spreadsheet rows.
Executive summary
The situation
Internal and provider records describe payments differently across large volumes and markets. Finding a pair does not settle differences in status, amount or timing.
What was built
Nexus runs multi-pass matching, checks matched pairs for drift and creates managed exceptions. Finance, operations, compliance and analysts receive role- and market-scoped views, with audit and BI feeds.
Why it matters
Gives teams a shared reconciliation process while preserving the detail each role needs. Unresolved records remain manageable work rather than a residual list outside the process.

The challenge
Two records of every payment, rarely identical.
Internal and provider records can describe the same payment in different ways. Across a large transaction volume and multiple markets, a process needs more than one way to find a pair. It also needs to recognise disagreement after matching.
Status, amount and timing drift remain important, as do unmatched items. Finance, operations, compliance and analysts need a shared reconciliation with role-appropriate detail and market boundaries, rather than unresolved records left outside the process.
What we built
A matching cascade with managed exceptions.
Nexus reconciles the records through a multi-pass matching cascade. Successive passes address cases earlier passes do not catch. The pairs then move through status, amount and timing checks: matching is not confused with agreement, and an apparent pair can still need attention.
Unmatched or inconsistent items enter managed exception handling. Custom dashboards give finance, operations, compliance and payment analysts role-scoped views with market-level boundaries. Dedicated exception and audit areas support investigation, and a downstream BI feed makes the reconciliation data available for wider analytics. Each team works with a view of the same process rather than a separate reconciliation.
How the workflow runs
Step by step.
01
Ingest
Internal transactions and provider records are collected. A cascade of matching passes pairs records, each catching what earlier passes missed.
02
Check drift
Matched pairs are checked for status, amount and timing differences. Unmatched and inconsistent items become owned exceptions.
03
Report
Results feed role-scoped dashboards and downstream BI.
What the business team sees
Role-scoped views of one reconciliation.
Finance needs the financial picture; operations and analysts need exception detail; compliance needs the audit trail. The dashboards reflect these different questions, subject to role and market scope. Unmatched records stay visible as work to handle, with exception and audit views providing the context.
- Match results by provider and market
- Status, amount and timing drift
- Exception queue
- Audit trail
- Role-scoped views
How Nexus works underneath
Rules match records. Workflows handle the remainder.
The cascade and drift checks are explicit deterministic logic. Nexus connects them to exception handling and reporting so unresolved items stay inside the process. Business teams investigate through their dashboards, while the internal transaction and payment-provider systems retain their roles as the record sources.

Human control and audit
Every exception has a history.
Exceptions and their resolutions are recorded in a dedicated audit view. Compliance can see what was flagged, who handled it and how.
What this changes
More than one matching pass. The cascade addresses cases earlier passes leave unresolved.
Exceptions stay in the process. Unmatched and inconsistent items become managed work with dedicated views.
Shared data, scoped access. Each team has an appropriate view and a feed for downstream analytics.
